Hello. It's Me.

Hello,

My name is Taylor and I am the artist behind RAMSIE.

To me, Art is equally as frustrating as it is enjoyable. It’s frustrating because there’s a constant want and need to be better. There’s a struggle to learn and keep a skill. There’s forgetting how to do things, doing things incorrectly, and not wanting to do them at all. There’s feeling like you’re not doing enough, or that people don’t like your art. Sounds frustrating right? The thing is, as much as I complain it’s also fun. It’s an emotional and creative outlet which allows me to have a tremendous amount of freedom and space for expression.

I’ve been an artist since I was a child and throughout the years I have fallen deeper and deeper in love with art in its many forms. I taught myself how to draw clothing on bodies at a young age, wishing to design before I knew that it was an actual career. From drawing, I moved to painting portraits with oil paints and eventually acrylics. While I painted in high school I continued to sketch and explore fashion at home. When it came time to choose a college and a major, I knew that I wanted a career in the arts. I was accepted into VCUarts in Richmond, Virginia in the spring of 2015 and graduated from the Fashion department in the spring of 2019. And so it begins… The transition into non-academic-adult-life.

Now a graduate, I am beginning my career and life in fashion and the arts.

I’m starting this blog to talk generally and openly about my experiences within the arts as well as my struggles currently and going forward. So here we go…

XOXO,

Ramsie
